Automotive lights industry research report: intelligent upgrade of lights, penetrating lights, ambient lights take the lead in breakthrough

2022-08-26

The penetration rate of LED headlights in passenger cars is over 50%, and the matrix type has become the new upgrade direction. Automotive headlights have gone through the stages of kerosene, acetylene, halogen, xenon, LED, etc. Since 2017, with the decline in the cost of LEDs and the increase in energy consumption requirements, LED headlights with the advantages of higher light intensity, lower energy consumption and longer service life have quickly replaced halogen headlights. According to the sales data of the Passenger Association and the model configuration data of Pacific Auto and E-Car, the penetration rate of LED headlights in the passenger car market was about 55% in the first half of this year.
Among the top 15 models in sales, (1) sedans: the new Land Rover, Camry, new Bolero, Sprint, BYD Han, Leyland, BMW 5 Series, BMW 3 Series, etc. are equipped with LED headlights as standard; (2) SUVs: BYD Song, Tesla Model Y, Haval H6, Honda CR-V, Changan CS75, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, BMW X3, Toyota RAV4, Veranda, Toucan, etc. are equipped with LED headlights as standard; (3) MPVs: Buick (3) MPV: Buick GL8, Saina, Chuanqi M8, Odyssey, Allison, Capgemini, Kusto, etc. are equipped with LED headlights as standard. As a whole, the best-selling models of cars and SUVs are basically equipped or equipped with LED headlights in some versions, but the penetration rate of LED headlights in MPV models is slightly lower than that of cars and SUVs. with the improvement of vehicle configuration, some models are further upgraded to matrix headlights.
Matrix headlamps can realize ADB function and have significant advantages over mechanical ADB in terms of response speed and lighting effect. Each LED body can be adjusted independently for brightness or turned off, and a number of functions can be configured to enhance nighttime driving safety through different light distribution patterns, such as follow-me steering, precise lighting, controlled illumination range, dynamic turn signal, and headlight alert to pedestrians. The traditional mechanical ADB adjusts the headlight up and down or left and right by motor, or changes the light pattern of the headlight by turning the visor, which is slow and not very accurate. The matrix headlamp can realize the function of mechanical ADB, and it is better than mechanical ADB in terms of response speed and lighting effect.
